Germaine Mary Skibinski was born in Milwaukee, WI, on August 30, 1922. Daughter of Blanche (Gorski) Skibinski and Batholowomew Skibinski. Germain was one of eight children. She met her husband, Joseph Michael Krawczyk, at St. Stanislaus High School (later known as Notre Dame High School) in Milwaukee. She graduated from the class of 1940 and enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard with her sister Phyllis (Skibinski) Lingemann in 1943. She was called to active duty shortly after that. Germain served in Palm Beach, Florida, then in Sault Saint Maire, Michigan. Germain and Joseph were married on August 29, 1945, in Milwaukee.They lived in Milwaukee all their lives and raised a family of nine children. Germaine was a small business owner, an active member of the American Legion, and a staunch patriot all her life. She passed on to eternal life on September 21, 1990, at the age of 68. She lives on in the memories of her dear family and many close friends.
